What is osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a manual therapy and alternative medicine which mainly focuses on the body's muscle and joint systems.
As well as using hands-on assessments and treatment, osteopaths give advice and exercise recommendations! This has many benefits which include promoting healing, reducing pain, and improving movement.
Osteopathy is based on the understanding that our bodies' systems are interconnected and depend on each other to function effectively.
This treatment is safe and suitable for everyone; including children, elderly, those who are pregnant, or suffer with chronic pain.
What will my appointment be like?
Your appointment will consist of a consultation, assessment, treatment and advise! We will discuss the area of concern you have to gain an understanding of your problem. You will then be asked to dress down to an appropriate level to assess and treat the area. We will also take some time to go over some self-care advice and potentially prescribe some exercises.
Treatment consists of mobilizing your joints, clinical massage, and a variety of other hands on techniques.
During your first appointment a detailed case history of your lifestyle and medical information will be recorded. This ensures we keep you safe and look out for anything that may need to be reviewed by a doctor.
